Under the Electricity Act, the Board has the responsibility to regulate certain aspects of the electricity market in the province. This authority includes licensing participants in the electricity market, and  approving any rate changes by the NB Power Distribution and Customer Service Corporation that exceed 3%. The Board also has the authority to regulate the electrical transmission market in New Brunswick.
